This new addition to the chilled juice aisle answers the call for those who seek less sugar and fewer calories, and who want to avoid artificial sweeteners in their diet. At 50 calories, each 8oz glass of Trop50 orange juice squeezes in a full day’s supply of vitamin C and is a good source of potassium. It also provides 10% of the daily recommended intake of antioxidant vitamins A and E.
In addition, Tropicana has tapped Kyra Sedgwick – the Golden Globe winning actress and star of TNT’s acclaimed series The Closer – to be the face of Trop50. Sedgwick will appear in the new, national advertising campaign, which launches this week with a television spot and print ad to follow.
“Tropicana has been part of our family routine for a long time, and I love Trop50 because it delivers the goodness of orange juice, but with just half the sugar and calories,” said Kyra Sedgwick. “People today want to be healthy; they want to eat and drink products that will be good for their bodies and give them energy throughout the day. The television ad, directed by Peter Arnell, shows Sedgwick drinking a glass of Trop50 on a bright, sunny morning that clearly ignites her day. After just one taste, she dances with abandon around her kitchen to Tom Jones’ famous hit, She’s a Lady.
This breakthrough category innovation is a result of more than 18 months of research and development working to find the perfect intersection of taste, nutrition and reduced sugar and calories. Tropicana’s proprietary formulation ensured that Trop50 contains important nutrients such as vitamin C and potassium.
“It’s not just that Trop50 offers half the sugar and calories,” said Susan Logue PhD and director of R&D. “It’s how we make it happen together with the groundbreaking use of stevia that makes this product an exciting new choice for consumers.”
The all-natural, zero-calorie sweetener in Trop50 is PureVia, which is made from a high purity extract of the sweetest component of the stevia plant called Reb A. In Trop50, PureVia enhances the sweetness and flavour of juice made from fresh oranges, naturally.
Trop50’s new innovation replaces Tropicana’s previous Light ‘n Healthy orange juice beverage that was made with an artificial sweetener.

All varieties are packaged in 59oz cartons, which are available for a suggested retail price of $3.59, and Trop50 Pulp Free Calcium & Vitamin D is also available in 12oz bottles, available for a suggested retail price of $1.69. Trop50 is currently rolling out nationwide (in the US) and available wherever Tropicana Pure Premium products are sold.
