Poultry company Plukon Food Group has completed the acquisition of Cuparius Food Group (CFG), a supplier of chicken products to KFC in Europe, for an undisclosed sum.
The companies entered the initial agreement in July earlier this year, which was subject to the approval of competition authorities in the Netherlands and Germany.
Following completion of the deal, CFG will trade under the name Plukon CFG Nijkerk BV.
Based in Nijerk, in the Netherlands, CFG specialises in the supply of chicken products to European food service companies such as KFC. Meanwhile, Plukon supplies chicken products and ready meals to European food partners.
The company operates 11 poultry processors and seven processing and packaging plants across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Poland. In addition to supplying retail in its existing production countries, Plukon also supplies the food service channel.
Plukon says the acquisition will strengthen both companies from the sourcing of raw materials, existing logistics channels and available production capacity, and will enable them to expand their operations further in Europe.
This year, Plukon bought Spanish poultry company, Grupo de Gestión Empresarial Avícola VMR, and agreed to purchase a 51% stake in German hatchery Optibrut, with the intention to invest further in the quality of its chicken chains.
