FoodBev’s Alex Clere spoke to Anna Williams, a senior research technologist for Fonterra, about the company’s consumer milk powders.
Market research has allowed the New Zealand dairy company to gain a better understanding of consumer demand for milk powders, and how consumers in different parts of the world use Fonterra’s products differently.
As Williams explained, this is allowing it to create products that meet very specific targeted needs.
FoodBev met with a number of Fonterra farmers, plant workers and marketers as part of a four-day visit, which took in several of the dairy company’s largest factories, a typical grass-fed dairy farm and the company’s flagship research and development centre in Palmerston North on the country’s North Island.
NZMP is Fonterra’s ingredients division, supplying products like whole milk powder and shredded cheese for use in markets around the world.
Recorded and produced by Alex Clere and Martin White.
