According to Mintel, ‘Hummus chips are a fairly niche product offering in the marketplace, with the majority of launches coming from smaller companies. To see a big player like Quaker come into such a niche segment shows the potential and popularity of healthy snacks.’
Mintel’s Global New Products Database shows that there have been a total of 41 hummus chip products launched dating back to 2002, with over half of those launches occurring in 2011 and 2012.
Of the 41 hummus products, the most active companies introducing hummus chips are NaturStar Foods, Simply 7 Snacks and Plocky’s Fine Snacks.
