European software provider Xhockware has unveiled plans to bring its self-scanning smartphone app YouBeep to the UK, in a bid to transform the country’s retail landscape.
The mobile technology has claimed to be able to reduce checkout waiting time by more than 70%, and involves customers using their own smartphones to scan item barcodes while they shop. Also claiming to shorten queues and increasing basket size per customer by an average of 15%, the company is “in discussions” with various British, American and European grocery retail multiples.
The app additionally has the benefits of reducing a store’s operating costs, increasing customer satisfaction ratings, and providing purchasing data to participating stores. No significant capital expenditure is required and implementation of the patented technology, which is compatible with all loyalty cards and has the facility to offer instantly redeemable coupons, can be achieved across 100 outlets in just six weeks.
Xhockware co-founder and CEO João Rodrigues said: “Retailers put the shopper, their desires, problems and expectations at the centre of their strategic growth plans. By solving one of their customers most persistent problems, YouBeep is enabling enhanced customer experience to be realised and consequent benefits to be reaped.”
