Ohza, a US producer of ready-to-drink mimosas, has closed a seed financing round led by Talent Resources Ventures and entrepreneurs Justin Mateen and Austin Rosen.
The Massachusetts-based company’s RTD cocktails combine sparkling wine and juice, and are reportedly free from added sugar, preservatives or artificial flavours. As well as its Classic Mimosa offering, the brand last month introduced two new flavours to its range, Classic Bellini and Mango Mimosa.
Ohza says that the capital raised in its latest funding round will be used to drive product innovation and awareness, as well as to further expand distribution. The amount secured has not been disclosed.
Round investor Talent Resources Ventures is a venture fund that focuses on early-stage consumer brands.
“It’s rare to find a clean label beverage that is gluten-free and tastes amazing,” said Michael Heller, principal of Talent Resources Holdings.
“The sky is the limit for innovation and demand in this category, and we share the same vision as Ryan, which is why we sought the opportunity to be involved at such an early stage of Ohza’s development.”
The round also attracted participation from the tech and entertainment sectors – Mateen is an internet entrepreneur who co-founded Tinder and Rosen is the founder and CEO of Electric Feel Entertainment.
Ohza’s founder, Ryan Ayotte, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome everyone to the Ohza family. I wanted to make sure I brought on strategic partners that could provide far more than just capital. With their help, we’ll exceed our expected exponential growth in 2020 and beyond.
“The alcohol industry may be crowded, but we’ve got our sights set on shaking things up and making some serious noise along the way. People view our products as unique in a sea of “sameness” and continue to reach for Ohza in stores and on our website.”
