CocoPresso is a mixture of cocoa and espresso packed in a 190g can suitable for vending machines.
The drink was created by tapping the Meiji Holdings Co unit’s know-how in the cocoa business and Pokka’s expertise in coffee operations. Pokka will handle production, while sales and promotion will mainly be executed by Meiji. The product will be launched through Pokka’s 90,000 vending machines across Japan, as well as through convenience stores and other channels. The joint venture is targeting ¥7bn in retail sales annually.
On 12 August, Sapporo announced that it would take a 21.65% stake in Pokka, the same size stake that Meiji already has in the privately held beverage producer. This three-way tie-up will bring together soft drinks, snacks and dairy products.
