Sheppy’s has launched a new “fruity and aromatic” variant infused with blackberry and elderflower, as the Somerset cider maker extends its portfolio ahead of the summer months.
Its latest cider combines “a sublime combination of rich blackberry, with the delicate floral overtones of elderflower”. The 4% ABV beverage is additionally described as rich and fruit, has a light sparkle and possesses the colour of crimson.
Created using a dessert cider apple with a blackberry juice and elderflower infusion, the cider will be available in a 500ml bottle for retail and a 20l bag-in-box format for the on-trade channel – and is said to be a good accompaniment to salads, pasta and savoury dishes.
Sheppy’s managing director and head cider maker David Sheppy said: “Cider and elderflower have always enjoyed an incredible partnership – the added infusion of blackberry juice has resulted in something really special; it adds a deep hue and a depth of rural flavours. This cider captures the essence of warm fragrant evenings in the countryside – and Somerset’s sunny hedgerows.”
