Urban Fruit has launched a new duo of 100% natural coconut chips, available in more than 1,300 Tesco stores across the UK from this month.
Triple toasted for crunch, the new offering will be available in a convenient 25g pack size that Urban Fruit hopes will allow it to take advantage of the on-the-go snacking category.
The coconut chips will be available in two flavour variants: straight up, made with a simple sprinkle of sea salt and coconut nectar; plus sriracha chilli for a fiery kick. Made with 100% natural ingredients and no refined sugar, each pack is full of fibre as well as being vegan-friendly and gluten free. They contain between 118kcal and 122kcal per pack.
Urban Fresh Foods marketing director Emma Howgego said: “Watching the momentum build behind Urban Fruit these past 12 months has been so exciting: our commitment to offering delicious, simple snacks has really resonated with retailers who are increasingly searching for solutions that consumers will love and feel good about eating. We’re now the fastest growing [on-the-go] adult fruit snacking brand on the market, and after a year or so of eating far too many coconuts, we’re thrilled to bring our product to market and receive such support from retailers while doing so.”
Urban Fruit already produces three fruit snack packs – magnificent mango, smashing strawberry and perfect pineapple – for which it added Sainsbury’s to its portfolio of stockists last year. The brand has gained more than 5,000 stocking points in the last year, and this latest launch will build on increasing consumer interest in the £100 million coconut category.
