Southern Champion Tray (SCT), a manufacturer of paperboard packaging for the bakery and foodservice industries, has acquired Honeymoon Paper Products.
Based in Fairfield, Ohio, Honeymoon supplies packaging for sectors including supermarket and retail bakery, deli, and foodservice.
According to Tennessee-headquartered SCT, the acquisition will allow it to expand its fibre-based product offering, as the company integrates Honeymoon’s catalogue items into its portfolio.
SCT will provide expanded printing technology for Honeymoon’s custom packaging business, and the deal is expected to benefit customers with enhanced capabilities more broadly.
The purchase of Honeymoon provides SCT with an additional manufacturing facility and a ‘highly proficient’ team in Fairfield, experienced in the production of corrugated circles and pads, as well as takeaway packaging for the deli and bakery industries.
Commenting on the news, SCT’s president and CEO John Zeiser, said: “This acquisition makes a lot of sense for both Southern Champion and Honeymoon customers as we are expanding the breadth of our product line and scope of our manufacturing capabilities.
“Our business model is based on consistently delivering great packaging with distinctive customer service. We look forward to welcoming the Honeymoon organisation into the Southern Champion Tray family.”
Brian Hunt, SCT’s chief operations officer, added: “We are very fortunate to acquire a facility with an experienced workforce and also one that aligns with our company culture and values.
“The solution-driven culture at Honeymoon is a perfect complement to the service-focused business model of SCT.”
The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
