The blend is made with coffee grown by farmers in the southwestern province of Yunnan, and is named in honour of Yunnan, which means “south of the clouds” in Chinese.
It combines arabica beans from Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Baoshan region, creating a flavour profile consisting of bright acidity, herbal spiciness in the finish and a cocoa texture.
This coffee is available brewed in-store in Greater China for a limited time from 11 January to 19 February 2009.
Starbucks opened its first store in mainland China in 1999 and now operates more than 350 stores across the country.
Newswire service AFP reported that the coffee would also be offered in Starbucks outlets outside China, including those in Singapore and Malaysia.
