According to a blog by Meyer on the official Starbucks website, the store will be part of the Westfield Stratford Shopping Centre.
The regeneration of this particular area offered inspiration to the designer, who said, “I wanted to design a store that would stand out and grab the attention of the millions of visitors that will visit the development, but also to design a store that proudly celebrated our truly unique brand heritage”.
The blog continues: The store has been designed using the latest technology and reflects the modern architecture of the shopping mall as well as the futuristic design of buildings within the Olympic Park.
The full-height glazed shop front has been printed on both sides with one of the new Starbucks brand pattern creating a three-dimensional glass facade not seen on any Starbucks before. This glazed shop front wraps into the store at both entrances and turns into a timber ceiling feature within the store.
A further feature of the shop front are the fold-back windows allowing customers to enjoy their coffee while sitting on a tall bar overlooking the activity of the mall.
The new store is open to the public 13 September 2011.
