The Real McCoy rum is based on the story of Bill McCoy, the pioneer rum runner of the prohibition era, who fuelled the Roaring Twenties by delivering over two million bottles of rum to the speakeasies of New York in 1920.
McCoy became a household name because he never adulterated the alcohol. Unlike other rum runners of the time, who cut the liquor with chemicals such as turpentine and wood alcohol, McCoy only delivered the best, and he and his product became known around the world as The Real McCoy.
