As the season gets jolly with celebratory vibes and the holidays are just around the corner, food and drink companies have all revealed their festive packaging designs for food and beverages. Seasonal packaging helps companies add a personal touch to their products, add new products to existing ranges and stand out on the shelves. Here is a quick round up of our top picks from this year’s designs.
Chocolate Factory advent calendar
The Spanish artisan chocolatiers collaborated with Horoshi Tsunoda Design Studio to create this interactive advent calendar that will bring the whole family together for the kids’ enjoyment. The design reinvents the idea of advent calendars, which usually look rather childish. The creative studio’s new take on the concept entices the adults as well children with its elegant design. On the 24th, on top of having all of the delicious Chocolate Factory delights, the users can also enjoy constructing a little tree out of the chocolate boxes and a nice little puzzle hidden behind the box, after the dinner.
Coca-Cola cans
Coca-Cola takes their iconic Polar Bears out of the box for the holiday season this year for the first time since 2013. Appearing on Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Life, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Diet Coke cans, 2016’s polar bears come with a little twist! When looked closer, it is seen that there is a tiny little Coke bottle on the bear’s shiny nose and the eyes are made of Coca Cola crowns! The white polar bears made their first appearance on the Coca Cola TV ads in 1993 and have been a favourite on Coca-Cola packaging designs, in addition to the brand’s iconic version of Santa Claus.
Baileys Chocolate Luxe
The limited-edition Baileys Chocolate Luxe mixes the award-winning Irish Cream with real Belgian chocolate. Working with a world-class Belgian chocolatier, the brand uses Irish whiskey, Madagascan vanilla, cream and only the best Belgian chocolate. Enjoyed over ice, or on its own as a liquid dessert, this decadent and bespoke drink comes in a beautifully adorned gold bottle, checking all the items on the list for an indulgent Christmas treat! The premium bottle reflects the silky chocolate flavour added to the famous cream liqueur, as well as the luxurious feeling of the holidays. An ideal gift for the season.
Marks & Spencer’s musical tins
This year Marks & Spencer’s chose gold, green and red in their holiday themed packaging designs, and once again their musical tins stole the spotlight! For 2016 the classic Christmas biscuits are presented in a rotating bauble musical tin that is sure to put a smile on children’s faces. The box is filled with delicious shortbread biscuits and it plays We Wish You a Merry Christmas as the decorations in the inside revolve around.
Simple Solace wines
No Pasa Nada Wines of California worked with Makers & Allies creative agency on their latest addition to the range, the Simple Solace, and the new label is sure to appeal to millennials – not only for its party-ready, hip illustrations, but also the speculative motto it comes with: ‘waking life is but a dream controlled’. Calling themselves the ‘closet visionaries’, the creative duo said: “Simple Solace represents the everyman, the dreamer, the visionary – and finding the courage to follow your heart.
T2 Mulled Magic
The artisan tea company’s new seasonal flavour, Mulled Wine Magic, comes in a vividly coloured tin box, bringing a modern twist to the traditional green and red of Christmas, plus a magical touch from Asia with the giant red elephants and the floral patterns. The fruity and zesty blend encapsulates the aromas of traditional mulled wine with apple, cinnamon and orange wedges, together with a little bit of spice, from ginger and cloves to star anise, making sure to warm you up on cold winter nights.
Strangest Christmas
Although it is a conceptual work that has not yet been produced commercially, we wanted to include this quirky illustration work as a highly commended project in our round-up. Creative designer Mo Kalache’s unusual, hand-drawn patterns use a refreshing colour combination for the season and depicts mischievous and clumsy wood creatures.
