Said to be the first time Valio has licensed its LGG for a low-fat spreads application, Unilever’s Lätta brand spread with LGG is being launched first in Germany and Sweden, followed by other countries where the Lätta brand is marketed (with the exception of Finland).
According to Valio, which has marketed the probiotic strain since 1990 in its Valio Gefilus branded products, LGG is used in Lätta to add a new health benefit to the spreads category: ‘strengthening natural defences’.
LGG is currently marketed in more than 40 countries around the world, usually in dairy products, but also in food supplements and infant foods. It’s supported by more than 400 published scientific studies.
The Lätta spread is an ideal carrier for probiotics. It’s lower in sugar compared to other probiotic products, and contains important vitamins and essential fatty acids.
Unilever’s Lätta brand is known for its low-fat spreads, which are distributed across seven European countries and account for sales of more than €150m.
The brand targets young adults with an active lifestyle and a positive outlook on life who are looking for fresh, tasty products offering the energy they need.
