The Wensleydale Creamery (TWC), a cheesemaker based in the Yorkshire Dales, has introduced a new range of blended cheese taster packs.
TWC’s new packs are available in Asda, Tesco and Waitrose with further listings expected to be announced in the future. Available in Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, Yorkshire Wensleydale with Apricots & Peach and Cheddar with Caramelised Onions variants, the 90g cheese packs are priced between £1.29 and £1.59.
David Hartley, managing director at the Wensleydale Creamery, said: “Consumers are increasingly demanding convenience and requesting a more accessible format, evidenced by the driven expansion of retailers in this sector and the growth in smaller household size. Our new taster pack range in three of our most popular flavours will cater for this growing demand and are an easy indulgent option for consumers.
“The smaller 90g packs are perfectly placed to fit the market, while also encouraging trial, which will grow the £90m blended cheese category further, being the perfect ‘easy to use’ option for both snacking and cooking.”
The Creamery has invested in £350,000 of new bespoke equipment, which features unique cutting and packing capabilities, to create the pack format shape and size of the new taster packs. TWC’s new packaging also features the PGI logo for Yorkshire Wensleydale variants, ensuring clear differentiation in the marketplace from other Wensleydale cheese that is made in other counties around the UK.
