Yoplait has launched a new range of its Greek yogurt, blended with oats, flax and pumpkin seeds for a more substantial snacking option.
The new 5.5oz single-serve Plentí yogurt pots are available in eight different flavours – black cherry, blueberry, coconut, peach, raspberry, spieced apple, strawberry, and vanilla – and offer a new way to enjoy fat-free Greek yogurt.
Slightly larger than traditional yogurt cups, all eight variants provide between 140 and 150 calories, as well as 12g of sugar and 12g of protein from cultured nonfat milk and the grains and seeds contained within the yogurt.
The innovation could be the first Greek yogurt mixed with grains and seeds on the US market, but its introduction follows last year’s launch from rival firm Chobani of a line of Greek yogurts with fruit and wholegrain oats, which it announced in April alongside a host of other innovations.
Plentí’s launch coincides with a time of growth for General Mills-owned Yoplait, which recorded a 1% increase in sales for each of the first two quarters of this year – the first time that the brand has witness growth in three years. Its Greek yogurt segment grew by nearly 40% compared to the previous year, the Minneapolis Star Tribune noted.
