Tangerine Confectionery will introduce a special-edition pack for Halloween, and is set to bring back a popular Halloween assortment from last year too.
The new Sweet Champions Halloween lollies pouch will be available in 300g bags with a recommended retail price of £2 per bag. It will be joined by the return of last year’s Sweet Champions Halloween assorted bag, with a recommended retail price of £1 for 200g, which will be available in convenience stores and select supermarkets across the UK from next month.
The lollies pouch is a brand new product that will be available in Asda stores, featuring Tangerine Confectionery’s “champion” sweet brands such as Wham, Fruit Salad, Refresher and Dip Dab. The assortments of chews and lollies will help to deliver category sales for retailers during the Halloween season, Tangerine Confectionery said, as the lolly sharing bags market is growing ahead of the confectionery market at 1.7% unit growth.
The assorted bag has been brought back following its success last year, which Tangerine said looks set to continue. It features a selection of sweets in a Halloween pack – a mixture of mini Whams (strawberry, sour apple and original raspberry flavours), Fruit Salad lollies, Black Jack lollies and Frosties cola sweets and will be available in Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s.
Both products’ packaging features classic Halloween colours and graphics, such as images of bats and Halloween-style typography.
Adrian Hipkiss, head of marketing for Tangerine Confectionery, said: “Halloween has become the third biggest retail event behind Christmas and Easter – Halloween sugar confectionery is worth £6.4 million and in the week of Halloween, it accounts for 14% of total sugar sales (just under £1 million).
“Our eye-catching themed Sweet Champions Halloween assorted bag and lollies pouch are must-list products, perfect for trick or treaters. They will also allow families and fans of retro favourites to buy a sharing bag of some of our best loved sweets to treat themselves and others.”
