San Francisco-based nutrition start-up Ample Foods has received $2 million in a seed funding round led by Slow Ventures.
The investment will aid the growth of Ample Foods, which has created a range of drinkable meals using ingredients such as grass-fed, rBST-free whey and collagen, probiotics, healthy fats and plant-based micronutrients.
The company offers three different drinkable meals at present: the original formula, a formula for vegans and a third meal made specifically for consumers following a ketogenic diet.
Each meal comes as a dry powder, which is portioned and sealed in its own bottle, and consumers need only add ice cold water or milk to create the meal.
As a result of this latest investment, Ample Foods has now received $4 million since it was listed on Indiegogo in 2015.
Ample Foods CEO Connor Young said: “It’s been deeply rewarding to hear the stories of people whose lives have improved with access to a healthy, convenient meal option.
“Slow Ventures is a perfect partner for Ample, because we both believe this business about more than just a product, it’s about providing a foundation for a healthier life.”
Scott Marlette, partner at Slow Ventures added: “We’re excited to be part of Ample’s mission to help people take control of their nutrition in a convenient way across a range of food lifestyles.
“Ample is leading the industry with a level of quality, honesty and convenience that is in line with where nutrition will go in the next 20 years.”
