The a2 Milk Company has expanded its presence in the US market by signing a distribution agreement with Walmart, meaning a2 Milk products are now available in Walmart stores throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Maryland, and Washington DC.
Australia-based a2 Milk offers a range of alternative milk products which it claims are ‘easier to digest’ than conventional milk products, as they do not include the A1 beta-casein protein, which can cause of digestive discomfort.
The new deal follows on from the company’s US expansion efforts earlier this year, which made a2 Milk products available from 1,400 stores in the US Northeast, and consumers can now find a2 Milk products at more than 6,000 retail outlets in the US.
Rising consumer demand from consumers with dairy intolerances has drastically accelerated the growth of the brand, and increased global sales led to the company recording a 68% increase in annual revenue in its latest financial results.
Blake Waltrip, US CEO of The a2 Milk Company said: “Achieving distribution with such a powerful and respected retailer like Walmart further validates the a2 Milk brand proposition in the US and marks a critical point in our company’s drive to bring consumers back to dairy by providing our products to the roughly 75 million Americans who report dairy intolerance.
“The a2 Milk proposition is unique in the dairy industry, and we are looking forward to continuing to spread awareness of the benefits of A1 protein free milk with the first to market brand, a2 Milk.”
The a2 Milk Company global managing director and CEO Jayne Hrdlicka added: “We are thrilled that millions more Americans will now have the opportunity to bring a2 Milk into their homes for their families.
“Our products offer a natural solution to those people who experience digestive discomfort from dairy and this is the next step of our goal of giving everyone the chance to enjoy the nutritious benefits of real milk.”
