AFI, a subsidiary of the Irish Dairy Board, has purchased the business and assets of Crewe-based firm FoodTec UK, a specialist powder blending company that makes gluten-free, bakery and other specialist nutrition products.
AFI managing director Gary Wells said FoodTec would play an ‘integral role’ in the company’s future growth plans.
“This acquisition presents exciting opportunities to grow both the AFI and FoodTec businesses in collaboration with existing and new customers across new products, technologies and processes.
“Through out shared synergies, we can add significant value to our customers’ businesses and we look forward to building strong relationships together.”
The Irish Dairy Board markets and sells dairy products on behalf of its members, Ireland’s dairy processors and farmers. It exports about 60% of Ireland’s dairy products, including brands such as Pilgrims Choice cheese and Kerrygold butter.
FoodTec was founded in 1994 and was previously known as Fayrefield Foodtec.
