Alltech Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co will bring its Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale back to the market this Halloween for the third year in a row.
The beer was the first seasonal brew launched by the Lexington-based brewer in its barrel-aged seasonal series. The 10% ABV brew will return this week in limited quantities on draught and in packs of four bottles, which have a recommended retail price of $14.99. Some retailers will again be offering collectible jack-o-lantern snifters along with the ale.
It is described as a “barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice”. As the ale ages in fresh bourbon barrels, it picks up the sweetness of caramel and vanilla, complementing its spicier base.
Alltech Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co general manager Jonathan Lang said: “Seasonal beers are already extremely popular amongst craft beer fans. Pumpkin brews, like our Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale, tend to be some of the most popular. Not only do pumpkin beers taste great, but you’re also getting into a time of year with a lot of fun outdoor events from football games to fall festivals, which just pair well with craft beer.”
