The news follows the announcement that three other companies have recently become associate members of the trade network, which is the only voice for smaller, British suppliers of bottled water.
Princes Gate Spring Water, a privately owned company based in Pembrokeshire, Wales, produces packaged water and water coolers marketed through its brand, Princes Gate Cool Water.
Jo Jacobius, director of British Bottled Water Producers, said: “Princes Gate is an important producer and employer in south Wales, and in addition to the firm’s contribution to commercial life in the area, the company also plays a key role in the Welsh community by contributing to charitable campaigns, including the Noah’s Ark Appeal to build the first hospital in Wales dedicated to children’s health needs. This is a well-respected indigenous Welsh brand, which is proud to be the official water of Welsh Rugby Union.
“Smaller producers, such as Princes Gate, act not only as stewards of the land but as important employers in rural communities,” Jacobius added. “For consumers and stockists, the messages are clear: if you’re buying bottled water, better make it British. This cuts down on food miles, promotes rural British jobs, and you know where the water has come from. You also know that you’re supporting companies that act as stewards of the land locally.”
