Water dispenser start-up Bevi has unveiled a new touchless dispensing feature, which allows consumers to use the firm’s beverage dispenser without using the machine’s touchscreen.
Bevi’s ‘smart’ water dispenser can dispense still and sparkling water in a variety of flavours, and the new touchless dispensing feature will be introduced for Bevi’s dispensers from 13 July 2020. The feature has been introduced due to concerns about safety and hygiene in offices and workplaces due to Covid-19.
The touchless dispensing feature can be accessed through a smartphone camera or QR code scanner. Users can scan a QR code and a replicated machine dispense screen will appear on their phone. From there, users can explore ingredients and select from all of the customisation options including still or sparkling water, flavour choice, and flavour strength.
Eliza Becton, co-founder and head of product, said: “It’s always been our vision to change the way the world hydrates by offering a more appealing and sustainable solution through user-centered design.
“With this innovation, we can offer users peace of mind by removing the need to touch a water cooler, or to touch a refrigerator door to grab a bottle of water. The feature can be added to any existing Bevi machine with an internet connection just by pushing a software update.”
