World-inspired food brand Bol Foods has continued to expand its offering in the on-the-go food category with the launch of a new range of dinner bowls.
The four-strong portfolio launched into Tesco and Waitrose stores across the UK this month with a recommended retail price of £4 each. Their introduction marks Bol’s first entry in the dinner-time market, having previously concentrated on lunch pots and salads.
Each dinner bowl contains up to two of the five recommended daily portions of fruit and vegetables – and are low in sugar, under 450 calories and a good source of protein. Consumers can choose from four new recipes that contain on-trend and nutritious ingredients, and, unlike other on-the-go options, the new dinner bowl format has a more premium-feel, Bol Foods said.
The four individual varieties are Keralan chicken curry, chicken and prawn noodle laksa, Thai red chicken curry, and harissa sweet potato with quinoa falafel.
Bol Foods founder Paul Brown said: “We are delighted to launch our new range of dinner bowls as part of our long-term mission to make it easier for busy people to eat well, at any time of day. Since our launch 18 months [ago], we have catered for the lunchtime market with our existing portfolio of lunch pots, and more recently, salad jars. Our dinner bowls have been specifically developed to cater for the evening consumer who is looking for a great tasting, hearty bowl of goodness to end a busy day.”
Bol has also continued to develop the lunch pot range with new and improved recipes developed under the guidance of nutritionist Ian Marber, and leading chef and food stylist Jennifer Joyce, author of My Street Food Kitchen.
All lunch pots are now under 400kcal, at least one of the five a day, low in sugar, and will no longer contain white carbohydrates – replacing them with the more popular options of brown and white rice, courgetti, quinoa and sweet potato.
Lunch pot recipes include Mexican sweet potato chilli, Thai coconut curry, Italian courgetti, Sri Lankan lentil sambar and Jamaican jerk chicken.
