Jo Jacobius, director of British Bottled Water Producers, said: “We’re delighted to welcome these three new associate members to our network. At a time when concerns about cost, environment and health are the three key elements governing choice, it’s more important than ever to stand up for British-produced waters.
“There’s increased interest among a large number of consumers about regionality, naturalness, source and provenance. Most consumers prefer ‘natural’ products, and according to IGD research, nearly half express some preference for British heritage. For those concerned about the health of the environment and their own health, natural water sourced locally is a sound choice.
“We provide a voice for smaller producers who act not only as stewards of the land, but as important employers in rural communities. For consumers and stockists, the messages are clear: if you’re buying bottled water, better make it British. This cuts down on food miles, it promotes rural British jobs, you know where the water has come from, and you know you’re supporting companies that act as stewards of the land locally.”
