Cambridge Commodities Group has acquired the ingredients division of US-based organic foods business Ultimate Superfoods for an undisclosed sum.
Ultimate Superfoods’ raw and organic superfood ingredient business will now merge with the US arm of Cambridge Commodities, expanding Cambridge Commodities’ presence in the US market.
Ultimate Superfoods currently markets a range of products including agave nectar, cacao products and more. Cambridge Commodities says that this deal will provide the company with access to its supplier network, allowing Ultimate Superfoods to expand its product portfolio to include vegan and dairy proteins, natural extracts, and fruit and vegetable powders.
The acquisition marks Cambridge Commodities’ second major acquisition in the US market, following on from the company’s purchase of Earth Circle Ingredients in July 2018.
Neil Hammill, commercial director of the Cambridge Commodities Group said: “We are delighted to welcome the talented team at Ultimate Superfoods into the Cambridge Commodities family as this venture grows our business operations in the States.
“The addition of Ultimate Superfoods will enhance Cambridge Commodities’ superfood offering and support our mission of providing customers with quality nutritional ingredients and healthier innovation to improve well-being in the US and the rest of the world.”
David Cody Evans, director of sales at Ultimate Superfoods, added: “As part of our continuous journey to find the best superfoods, we are incredibly excited to join the Cambridge Commodities family.
“Together we’ll be able to increase our warehousing capability and have access to a global team of knowledge and ingredients to expand our offering to our customers.”
