US-based meat producer Carl Buddig and Company has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with the purchase of a new factory in Montgomery, Illinois, which the company claims will create between 250 to 300 new jobs.
The new 280,000 square-foot facility has been acquired for an undisclosed sum, and will become operational this spring.
Once operational, the new site will increase the brand’s production capacity across its product portfolio, which includes various lunch meats, chicken strips and sausages.
The factory will be Carl Buddig’s fourth manufacturing site in Illinois.
Bob Buddig, CEO of Carl Buddig and Company said: “Expanding our manufacturing footprint to relieve pressure from current facilities and add capacity to address growing production demands from our customers has been a number one priority for the company.
“When the Montgomery facility became available, we jumped on the opportunity immediately. The new plant enables the company to significantly expand production of existing products and new products to be developed in the future.”
Dan Wynn, chief operating officer of Carl Buddig added: “It is important to note the expansion will create an additional 250 to 300 jobs in the coming year.
“We are not simply transferring jobs from our current facilities. We are creating new jobs to accommodate growth and work more efficiently.
“Buddig’s corporate office will remain in Homewood, IL, and production will continue in all of the South Holland, IL, facilities.”
