France-based cereal producers Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients (LCI) has unveiled a new natural flour that is rich in Omega 3.
Westhove LimaLin Gold is a completely natural, non-genetically modified product that combines yellow linseeds with wheat flour. It presents a number of applications across the food and drinks industries, and will bolster LCI’s range of Omega-3-rich ingredients significantly.
Westhove LimaLin Gold contains 5% more Omega-3 than the original LimaLin product and uses yellow linseed rather than the brown linseed previously used. This results in a neutral, golden colour without impact upon texture or taste. The company claims it is also easy to use and remains stable for a full 12 months.
Dr Walter Lopez of LCI said: “A lack of omega-3 in diets is general in Europe – and yet [the] European Food Safety Authority claims the ingestion of Omega-3 contributes to maintaining a healthy blood cholesterol level.
“Hence, four years after launching LimaLin, we have extended our ingredient range by the launch of ‘Westhove LimaLin Gold’ – a richer Omega-3 ingredient.
