Childhood nutrition manufacturer Before Brands has appointed Gregory Shewchuk as its new CEO, effective immediately.
Shewchuk will replace current CEO and co-founder Dr Ashley Dombkowski, who has been appointed CEO of Immunotherapeutics, a new company that is backed by Gurnet Point Capital, a private investment firm that also invested in the creation of Before Brands.
Prior to joining Before Brands, Shewchuk served as senior vice-president of Campbell Soup Company and led its US retail business unit, which includes brands such as Campbell’s Soup, Chunky and V8 Beverages.
Shewchuk brings with him experience in nutrition, since serving as chief marketing officer of Mead Johnson Nutrition Company.
Previously, he has held senior management roles at Cadbury, Diageo and Unilever, and led the innovation team of the North American Snacks unit at Mondelez International.
Before Brands is the inventor of SpoonfulOne, a line of pediatric nutritional products made to prevent early childhood food allergies. Its range of products include a complete set of the proteins from the foods associated with more than 90% of food allergies around the world.
As CEO, Shewchuk will lead all aspects of the SpoonfulOne business including the full commercial launch of products in the US.
Earlier this year, Nestlé Health Science became an investor in Before Brands and acquired the exclusive licensing rights to the company’s products outside the US. As a result, Shewchuk will be responsible for the implementation of the company’s partnership with Nestlé Health Science.
“The company’s focus to date has been to develop SpoonfulOne to be the world’s most comprehensive line of food allergy protection products, based on proprietary science led by Dr. Kari Nadeau,” said Chris Viehbacher, managing partner at Gurnet Point Capital and founding board member at Before Brands.
Viehbacher added: “We are now at a new inflection point where the efforts must shift to commercial execution. Greg deeply understands today’s consumers and has great expertise in general management, sales, digital marketing, e-commerce, new business models and innovation. He brings an ideal skill set to lead the team through this next stage and so we are all excited to have attracted an executive of his calibre to advance SpoonfulOne’s important work from here.”
