A High Court judge in London (UK) has ruled that text on the yogurt pots that revealed the product was made in the US instead of Greece was too small, and told New-York (US) based Chobani that it must alter the size of the print in the UK, according to the reports.
In a written decision, Mr Justice Briggs said that more than 50pc of consumers who buy Chobani yogurt in Britain “think it is made in Greece”.
“The very small print used on the rear of Chobani’s pots” indicating it was made in the US was “nowhere near sufficient” to inform people it does not come from Greece, he added.
Chobani’s Greek rival Fage, who brought the case and makes Total Greek yogurt, had succeeded in its bid to “restrain Chobani from passing off its American-made yogurt in England and Wales under the description Greek yogurt”, the judge said.
