Sheppy’s has launched a new bottled cider that combines dessert apples with fragrant elderflower to offer consumers the flavour of the summer.
The Somerset cider maker’s latest product “concentrates on the aroma and real flavours of the apple, with an infusion of aromatic elderflower, giving it a deliciously floral nose”. Naturally gluten-free, the 4% ABV cider is available in 500ml bottles and is described as a fine accompaniment to summer dishes, salads and picnics – or served on its own to capture the essence of warm summer evenings.
It has been launched to mark Sheppy’s bicentenary year, following on from the launch of Old Conky cider in March and joining its sister flavoured ciders: cider with blackberry and elderflower, and cider with raspberry.
Head cider maker and managing director David Sheppy said: “We were constantly being asked if we could produce a cider with elderflower, so how could we refuse! Like all Sheppy’s ciders, we have remained true to the core ingredient – the apple. All of our ciders are allowed to mature fully to bring out a real depth of flavour. Our new cider with elderflower has a subtle infusion of elderflower added to it, and the result is a fantastic combination of rural flavours that really do work beautifully together on the palate.”
