London craft brewer Meantime has started selling a limited-edition seasonal Saison beer, infused with strawberries.
The new brew has been developed using Suffolk malted barley and puréed strawberries to create an authentic taste of summer, which has been launched to celebrate the beginning of summer and coincide with the start of the Wimbledon tennis championships.
Meantime’s team of expert brewers took inspiration from the traditional Saison-style fruity pale ales of Southern Belgium as the base for the brew, which features “lots of strawberry aroma, delicate fruity top notes and a dry finish”. It is available in 330ml long-neck bottles from the brewer’s Greenwich store, and via its online shop.
Meantime Brewing Company head of QA and innovation Ciaran Giblin said: “The start of summer offers us the opportunity to experiment with an exciting range of seasonal flavours – we’ve taken the very best seasonal British fruits, malts and hops to create a wonderfully unique and refreshing summer brew.
“Taking inspiration from the iconic Wimbledon style strawberries and cream, we wanted to create something that had all the hallmarks of this classic combination, whilst remaining authentic to the Saison style. Brewed with finest quality Suffolk malted barley and pureed strawberries, which we added during maturation, this hazy blonde beer is best enjoyed on a sunny afternoon with or without tennis.”
