Martyn Wilks, executive MD of Dairy Crest’s Foods business and Mike Sheldon group milk procurement director, recently attended a series of meetings for farmers supplying Davidstow to share the company’s plans for Cathedral City and other brands produced at the creamery.
Sheldon said: “Our Davidstow price has consistently delivered a premium. The success of Cathedral City means that we need more milk in the south west and this latest price increase shows our continued commitment to support our farmers and build their confidence for the future.
“However, while justified, this increase does widen the gap between our cost of cheese production and that of imported cheese and looking forward this is something we have to be mindful of.”
