Drink two glasses of water before each meal and you can expect to lose an extra 2kg in 12 weeks.
The BBC carried the story on 24 August. The US study was based on two groups of 24 adults aged 55-75, both following a low-calorie diet. One group drank water beforehand, while the other didn’t.
The Economist on 28 August also reported on what had happened to the two groups a year later. The water drinkers kept going and lost more weight, while the others put weight on again.
As The Economist said: ‘It’s cheap. It’s simple. And unlike so much dieting advice, it seems to be enjoyable too.’
Evidently, water works.
