Artisan doughnut brand Dum Dum Doughnuts has created three limited edition Christmas “Domonuts” to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
The Santa Domonut, Abominable Domonut and Rudolph the Red Nosed Domonut are handmade using natural ingredients and are in the image of cartoon character Domo. The festive treats will be available in all East London outlets of Dum Dum Doughnut until 31 December.
The Santa Domonut is made from decadent layers of chocolate croissant dough, filled with dulce de leche buttercream and dipped in dark chocolate ganache with a face crafted from natural red and white fondant icing. It is available for £3.
The Abominable Domonut is a classic, baked doughnut filled with raspberry buttercream and dusted with icing sugar, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Domonut is a classic, baked doughnut packed with vanilla buttercream and covered in dark chocolate ganache. The reindeer’s most famous feature, his bright red nose, is a red M&M while pretzels represent his antlers. Both products will retail with a price of £2.
Domo was originally a mascot for the Japanese public broadcaster and has since been adopted as a figure in pop culture.
Paul Hurley, founder of Dum Dum Donutterie, said: “Collaborating with Domo over the holiday season was a no brainer for me. He’s fun, original and has plenty of attitude, just like Dum Dum Doughnuts. We’ve really enjoyed developing the Domonut and working out how to recreate Domo’s iconic toothy roar using our unique, patisserie baking technique. I’m sure our fans and anyone with a sweet tooth will love him just as much as I do.”
