Powwow, previously the Nestlé Waters Powwow brand in the UK, went out of business in 2010. Major bathroom and shower manufacturer, The Walker Group, bought the Powwow URL in an effort to revive the brand. The group then contacted Simon Hardy of Fonthill, having seen the Springwise brand online, with the idea of formulating a new offering from Powwow.
Simon Hardy explained: “The Walker Group saw that Powwow had enjoyed a significant presence in the marketplace and there may be an opportunity to revitalise it with a new offering and product range.”
Fonthill Waters has now taken a license from the Walker Group to market the products under the Powwow brand. “Our route to market is sales via the internet,” Hardy continued. “We are selling spring water in a one-way PET 15 litre bottle, both bottled water coolers and point-of-use coolers, as well as sanitisation products.
“Our experience with this trading platform has been a good one. We provide a great national service and look forward to growth.”
The existing staff in the Fonthill factory will deal with the Powwow orders, working with a national courier service.
As the licensee, Fonthill Water is responsible for all marketing of the revitalised Powwow brand. It is already set to be a sponsor of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, as well as providing the back room staff with water. Another major retail initiative will be announced in the coming months.
Sales will be driven from the website
