UK dessert brand Gato & Co has launched a brand new vegan and gluten-free range offering a modern twist to classic cookie sandwiches.
Made with gluten-free oats, ground almonds instead of flour, and nut butters and coconut oil in place of butter, each cookie is plant-based and free from gluten, dairy and palm oil.
According to the plant-based bakers, the cookies are high in fibre and contain half the sugar of similar sweet snacks.
The line-up includes four varieties: choc vanilla, choc peanut butter, choc hazelnut butter and salted caramel.
‘Handmade with whole, simple ingredients’, the variety offers chocolate cookies with a smooth and creamy filling of either vanilla, peanut butter and hazelnut butter flavouring. Meanwhile, the chocolate-salted-caramel filling is sandwiched between two vanilla cookies.
At 99 calories per cookie, Gato says the cookies “taste decadent but are guilt-free enough to become a daily sweet treat”.
Gato’s Cookies ‘n’ Cream will join its existing vegan range of nut butter cookie bites and pudding pots such as chocolate and coconut hot brownie.
Co-founder of Gato Kim Lamza said: “At Gato, we are passionate about creating super indulgent plant-based products that are better for you, your gut and the planet – the dream!
“Our treats are vegan friendly, packed with natural ingredients and contain much less sugar.”
The Cookies ‘n’ Cream range is available exclusively in Boots stores nationwide for an RRP of £1.59 per 42g snack pack of two and will be followed by a broader release in Spring 2020.
