The transmitters have been placed in the Welsh company’s refrigerators, used for the storage of incoming bulk butter and finished product, as well as within the chilled production areas.
SpYdaq’s wireless systems enable users to deploy sensors in various locations without the restrictions and cost of hardwiring, and results can be monitored from a PC via web access. The BaseStation, which manages the transmitters, also checks locally for alarm conditions using its inbuilt audio and visual alarms.
“As a packer of a natural dairy product such as butter, ensuring the correct temperature throughout the chill chain is essential for our business,” said Gower View Foods technical manager Carolyn Mills. “As a prerequisite of supplying the UK’s leading retailers, we must meet the requirements of the BRC version 6 standard, which states that an alarmed temperature monitoring system must be in place. We also wanted an affordable system that was flexible enough for us to be able to add new loggers as demand dictates. The wireless design of SpYdaq enables us to do this too.”
