Graham’s The Family Dairy has extended its line of organic milk with cream on top by launching a new semi-skimmed variant.
The Scottish company launched an organic whole milk with cream in August, saying that it would bring consumers ‘the best of both worlds’.
The new semi-skimmed version will offer consumers a lighter and healthier alternative, Graham’s said. Listed exclusively in 150 Sainsbury’s stores across England, it will appeal to consumers looking for a wholesome, organic milk that is naturally rich in protein, minerals and nutrients but lower in fat.
Graham’s The Family Dairy managing director Robert Graham said: “We’re really proud of our organic whole milk with cream at the top, so we’re delighted to bring a semi-skimmed version to our customers across England, for those who may be looking for something a little bit lighter for everyday use.
“Not only are they nutritious, our organic milks have a tasty layer of cream at the top and make a delicious alternative to other milks for families looking to benefit from organic produce.”
As well as listing the new semi-skimmed version, retailer Sainsbury’s has agreed to expand its listing of the organic whole milk version nationwide.
Graham continued: “We’re delighted Sainsbury’s have agreed to both expand their listing of the organic whole milk with cream at the top across the UK, and become the first listing of our new organic semi-skimmed version in England – a testament to the product’s demand as a wholesome milk as close to its natural state as possible.”
The family-owned dairy is placing all of its bets on nostalgic dairy, including unhomogenised milk that retains the layer of cream at the top of the bottle.
Arla’s Best of Both milk – a fat-free milk that apparently ‘tastes as good as semi-skimmed’, which the cooperative launched in January 2016 – is further evidence of the need for dairy producers to target consumers more effectively than existing milk formats, such as skimmed and semi-skimmed, currently do.
In recent times, innovation in the milk category has included vitamin-enriched milk, branded organic offerings, and milk that delivers a £0.25 premium on every bottle back to the farmers who produced it.
