Hormel Foods has expanded its Justin’s portfolio in the US with a new line of organic nut butter-covered nuts.
Available in two varieties – almond butter-covered almonds and cashew butter-covered cashews – the products are said to deliver a “sweet and salty snacking experience”.
Justin’s Organic Nut Butter Covered Nuts are made with organic ingredients and are both gluten and dairy free. The snacks contain 2-3g of plant-based protein per serving.
“When dreaming up this new creation, I was inspired by the mind-blowingly delicious combination of dipping almonds and cashews directly into our nut butter,” said Justin Gold, founder of Justin’s.
“Now that we’ve perfected the idea and brought it to life with Nut Butter Covered Nuts, everyone can enjoy this delicious combination.”
Jason Krolikowski, senior category merchant for Whole Foods Market, added: “We are super excited to be able to partner with Justin’s in launching their Nut Butter Covered Nuts. It’s been exactly a year since we first talked about this concept at Expo West, so it’s thrilling to finally be able to share it with our guests.”
The new range is packaged in a high-barrier pouch made with 25% post-consumer recycled materials. Created by ProAmpac, the pouch reduces its reliance on virgin resin by using 40% recycled plastic content in the sealant film.
According to ProAmpac, the packaging has high oxygen- and moisture-barrier properties, preserving product freshness.
Justin Gold said: “Finding ways to make our packaging more sustainable has been a long-time goal and continues to be something we’re committed to, so we were thrilled to find ProAmpac, a valued partner to collaborate with for this initiative on our latest innovation.”
