September’s ‘National Preparedness Month’ is a period recognised by America as a time to literally take stock before the season of stormy weather commences, and IBWA has first-hand experience with natural disasters.
In devastating situations such as Haiti, the bottled water industry was recognised as being the first on the ground in terms of aide, distributing much-needed single-serve and 5-gallon bottles of water.
The association is partnered with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and assists in producing the annual National Preparedness Month activities.
According to DHS guidelines, in the event that public drinking water service is interrupted or if its safety is compromised during an emergency event, all households should maintain an emergency supply of water – at least one gallon per person per day for three days for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene.
