Manchester-based importer Morgenrot has added to its burgeoning range of high-quality Spanish wines with the launch of two classic Spanish whites from the Viñedos Singulares Project.
Joining the Morgenrot portfolio is Afortunado, meaning “lucky”, a fruity and crisp vedejo from Rueda, in central Spain; and Luna Creciente, or “crescent moon”, a beautifully balanced Albarino from Rias Baixas, on the country’s northwestern coast.
Afortunado is produced from extremely old vineyards, some of them existing for a century, at an altitude of 900m. The wine has impact, Morgenrot said, with aromas of tropical fruit, aniseed and newly mown hay and a long and enveloping aftertaste.
Luna Creciente is made using a traditional method to maintain the Albariño character. Whilst leaving a delicious sensation in the mouth, overall it offers softness, elegance and freshness on both the nose and palate.
The two wines will be offered to the trade in the UK with list prices of £7.25 and £8.30 per bottle respectively.
John Critchley, commercial director for Morgenrot, said: “We are delighted to launch the Viñedos Singulares Project wines into the UK. With the project’s strong following amongst some of Barcelona’s top restaurants, the wine’s great quality and fantastic packaging, we’re confident the range will be a big hit this year. As consumers continue to experience, search out and discover the intricacies between the Spanish regions, their cuisine and drinks, it’s a fantastic time to be launching this discovery label.”
