Scottish craft brewer Innis & Gunn aims to expand into the US as it launches its Gunnpowder IPA beer into the country.
The “fresh and vibrant” beverage is now available in a four pack of 11.2oz bottles, with the draft version planned for release in the autumn.
With an ABV of 5.6%, Gunnpowder IPA is an American-inspired India pale ale brewed with Summit, Cascade, and Citra hops and finished over untoasted bourbon barrels.
Innis & Gunn founder Dougal Gunn Sharp said: “This beer is definitely an IPA first, with the notes of the barrel actually rounding out the bitterness that hops typically impart in the beer.
“You’re in for a bright and fresh aroma of tropical fruits and citrus followed by a nice smoothness coming from the untoasted bourbon barrels. Being mid-range on both IBU and ABV, our IPA delivers a satisfying and flavourful experience.”
Last year US investment group L Catterton bought 27.9% stake in Innis & Gunn for £15 million after the firm posted 13 consecutive years of volume growth. The company aims to reach £25 million in turnover by the end of 2018.
The firm also revealed a new look with a unifying packaging rebrand across its core range of beers.
