UK beverage company Lyme Bay Winery has expanded its spirits portfolio with new Winter Gin, in a move to extend sales opportunities for its gin during winter.
The beverage is said to have earthy tones layered against black pepper and nutmeg, with notes of elderberries and blackberries. It is finished with a hint of burnt orange.
Lyme Bay said that given the considerable interest in gin and the increasing sophistication of consumers, the drink will appeal to those looking to entertain at home by offering “a quality spirit that captures seasonal flavours”.
According to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, gin sales in the UK soared past the £2 billion mark for the first time in the 12 months to March 2019.
“Gin is incredibly popular at the moment and customers are increasingly looking for something different in this crowded market,” said Paul Sullivan of Lyme Bay Winery. “As experts in flavour, Lyme Bay is uniquely placed to create interesting new botanical notes and tastes.
“We decided to add a Winter Gin to our successful range to extend the opportunity for sales with the drink throughout the winter months and offer consumers a seasonal and festive tipple. Our Winter Gin ticks all the boxes for retailers for the vital trading period.”
Winter Gin is now available in the UK in 70cl bottles. It is also sold as part of a miniature gift box, featuring Lyme Bay’s five gins: Dry Gin, Pink Grapefruit, Elderflower and Cucumber Gin, Orange and Thyme Gin, and Winter Gin.
