Mike Zietec, Slough based product design scientist, and Nico Charalambous, were among representatives from a range of companies who were invited ahead of Skills for Work Week which is being organised by industry body, IGD, and will expose young people to work based skills while encouraging them to consider a career in the food and grocery industry.
The week kicks off from 17 September and the Mars associates gave a live demonstration of chocolate making, and quality testing.
Fiona Dawson, president Mars Chocolate UK, who also attended the event, said: “Designed by leading food and grocery businesses and developed by IGD, Skills for Work Week is calling on employers across the supply chain to open their doors this September, giving young people training in the skills they need to secure jobs, as well as showcasing the exciting range of jobs within the industry.
“Over the course of the week, we will be hosting young people within Mars’ offices who will learn more about our industry but also transferable skills which enhance employability. We hope that more UK employers will do the same and join us in tackling the very real problem of youth unemployment.”
