UK-based Meantime Brewing Company has announced its seasonal beer offering for 2016, which champions the use of new and exciting hop varieties.
The range includes the return of two previous seasonal offerings: 5.6% ABV “deep golden” Fest Bier made with Bavarian malt and yeast, to be launched in time for Oktoberfest this September; and 5.9% Winter Sun, which combines European and American hops for a “crispy, zesty flavour”, available in October.
The range will also see the debut of three new beers: Cali Pale Ale is a 5% ABV Southern California-style pale ale that uses East Anglian pale malt and features bready flavours balanced by notes of honey, tangerine and tropical fruits provided by the West Coast hops that are added during the boil. It will launch in April.
Meridian Lager is a “straw-coloured” 5% lager made German-style pilsner malt, the result of traditional ingredients and modern craft techniques. It draws on intensely fruity, new-to-the-world German hop varieties for flavours of mandarin, honeydew melon and strawberry, and will be available throughout June.
And, finally, Lucky Hop is a 4.4% single hopped ale debuting in August. Sure to be a summer hit, it features a distinctive citrus and tropical fruit aroma thanks to a brand new hop variety known as yellow sub.
Meantime marketing director Richard Myers said: “We’re incredibly proud of our seasonal range as it continues to give us the opportunity to do what we love most; innovate and experiment with different styles and flavours. This year is particularly special as we are introducing three new beers to our seasonal offering. We’re looking forward to the return of some old favourites in the Winter Sun and Fest Bier, but are equally excited to see the reaction to our three exciting new additions – Lucky Hop, Meridian Lager and Cali Pale Ale.
“We know beer drinkers like to enjoy different beer styles at different times of the year; whether that’s a traditionally brewed Bavarian-style Fest Bier to coincide with Oktoberfest or a pint of Winter Sun to keep you warm on cool winter nights, the seasonal range has something for every occasion.”
The seasonal beers will be available on draught at Meantime’s retail outlets and in a select range of premium pubs, bars and restaurants. The series offers a variety of styles and flavours and provides a wider choice for beer lovers to enjoy throughout the year.
