Mondelēz International has announced the launch of price-marked packs (PMP) of two of its most popular chocolate products, and is extending the availability of a third.
The company’s Cadbury Dairy Milk giant buttons and Bitsa Wispa will now be available in 80g packs, price-marked at £1. It will also be making Terry’s Chocolate Orange milk chocolate minis available all year round, starting in March. Mondelēz claimed that the changes would help retailers to drive sales and provide “clarity and transparency” to consumers.
Declan Duggan, brand manager for bite-size at Mondelēz International, said: “Recent research has shown that shoppers are looking for clear and transparent pricing information to help make their hunt for value easier, with PMPs providing one possible solution. We believe that the launch of the two new 80g PMP packs will help to increase consumer confidence and drive impulse purchasing.”
Mondelēz pointed to year-on-year growth of 4.6% in the chocolate bags category as a sign of potential within a growing market, stating that convenience stores sell more than £200’s worth of chocolate bags every week.
Duggan added: “We also hope to attract new consumers to the format with Terry’s Chocolate Orange Minis. More than 40% of volume of Terry’s Chocolate Orange Ball is actually sold outside of Christmas and with no current orange-flavoured offering within the category, this will be another way for customers to enjoy the great taste of Terry’s Chocolate Orange and may inspire new occasions for sharing.”
