High-protein food producer Muscle Food has received £10 million in funding from the Business Growth Fund (BGF), which the brand will use to establish a second base in Europe and develop its online presence.
The Nottingham-based brand sells a range of lean meats, high-protein foods and supplements to fitness enthusiasts and other health-conscious consumers in the UK and Europe.
The brand recorded sales of £45 million in the year to 31 March 2017, and its ‘Live Clean’ boxes have been delivered to approximately half a million homes in the UK since the company was established in 2013.
UK supermarket Sainsbury’s currently stocks a range of Muscle Food products including Protein Pizza, and the brand’s product range will also be launched in Morrisons this month.
Darren Beale, founder and CEO of Muscle Food said: “The Muscle Food team care passionately about making it easier for our tribe of customers to achieve their fitness and health goals – this mission has been critical in driving the expansion of the company.
“The partnership with BGF will help us accelerate our growth and switch even more customers on to our unique proposition.”
Greg Norman, investor at BGF added: “The Muscle Food team are talented, focused and passionate. They have successfully managed the high-growth experienced in the last three years and are ambitious about accelerating the expansion.
