A nutritionally balanced noodle pot, protein-packed crisps and a nut-free chocolate energy spread are all among a new range of protein-enriched products designed to keep consumers fuller for longer.
Launched this week, MyHi addresses the dearth of nutritious snacks and easy-to-prepare foods that have a high enough protein content for consumers on a fitness regime, or those who care about their protein intake.
Most of the products in the range have at least 20% protein and are carefully designed to balance all of the macronutrients: protein, carbohydrates and fats. Familiar foods have been enhanced to boost health without any compromise on flavour or nutrients, resulting in products such as chocolate and orange granola, steaming chow mein and beef szechuan, and high-protein bolognese sauce.
Aside from offerings across all three mealtimes, there is also a two-strong range of waffle crisps available in two flavour variants: chilli, and parmesan and chive. Packaged in 25g bags, the snacks retail from £1.35.
MyHi said that boosting protein intake could contribute to positive effects on ageing, muscle building, and general fitness and wellbeing.
MyHi partner Kevin Rushton said: “Our mission was to develop a wide range of popular, well-recognised foods that delivered nutritionally, but that also tasted great. We also wanted our range to appeal to everyone, in particular those with busy and hectic lifestyles, and we’re really excited at the products we’ve come up with.
“We’ve based this brand new range on the Harris Benedict equation – a longstanding, medically proven American formula that balances your three macronutrients –carbohydrates, protein and fat – to allow for optimal blood sugar control. In the foods we’ve created, our target has been to balance these macronutrients at 40% for both carbohydrates and protein and then less than 20% for fat. Our focus has been on low glycaemic foods that have good fats, as these provide steady energy throughout the day.”
